volume control on each cart
Some clips are recorded with too much volume making over modulation in broadcast distorting sound. A volume control on each cart could level out the decibels.

This might be better fixed by using "MP3 Gain" This is freeware at http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ Be careful with this and have a backup copy of all files !

I would suggest Normalising tracks before loading them to the database. We normalise and use a compressor before loading to database to ensure all tracks are at same level. You can also use Audacity for this and set it to do a chain.
