A real "headphone" output
Using PlayIt Live in a "simple" mode when the audience output is a mix made in PlayIt Live it would be good to have an output that is the "main" (including any microphone mix) unless a track is cued, in which case it is the cue output. This is often how a physical mixer will work, where headphones are "main" unless "PFL" is pressed on a channel. It would suit the more common two stereo channel sound cards as they often have one headphone capable output and one for a mixer on phonos. If it even allowed the "main" fed to the headphone output to be a "re entrant" to the computer (post external mixer) source then more or less any mixer would be usable for web streaming or similar applications. A level control on this "headphone" output would also be handy.

I get what you are trying to do here, and agree it's a good idea. You don't seem to have explained it that well. I had to re-read a few times. Personally, if I were using this in a studio situation I would have the main output from PlayIt running to a mixer, and any headphone channel also to that mixer. That means you have the PFL option - it's a mixer. Without a mixer you need to emulate that while PlayIt is running. Obviously you need a second soundcard or channel to listen. That can be configured in the general settings as the Track Editor Audio Device. What you want is a simple toggle so that the headphones, connected to the PFL channel, can default back to the main output sound when not being used for PFL.

I take your point Gordon, it could have been clearer! With a mixer, you need a channel for the individual players (or perhaps the mixed output), channels for mics and other sources and a channel for the cue (which I share with carts). If the cue output behaved as you describe (and I attempted to explain) then it would be always suitable as a headphone feed. It also supports 'mixerless' operation which is how some wish to use PlayIt Live.
